These terms cover your use of Flights Gone Wrong (this site). They are short on purpose. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
Who runs this site
Flights Gone Wrong is run by WebFoundry, 119 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean WebFoundry. You can reach us on the Contact page.
What this site is
Flights Gone Wrong collects documentary and analysis videos about air accidents, with written context from the official investigation reports. It does not host the videos. It points to them, embeds them from YouTube and adds context.
The videos belong to their creators
Every video on this site is embedded from YouTube and belongs to the channel that published it. We do not own them, and we do not claim to. When you press play, the video plays from YouTube under YouTube’s terms and the creator’s rights. Video titles, descriptions and thumbnails belong to the creators too. If you made a video shown here and want it taken down, or you think we have credited it wrongly, tell us on the Contact page and we will look at it promptly.
Our written content
The text on this site that we wrote (summaries, guides, event and topic pages, and the choice and order of videos) is copyright WebFoundry. You may:
- read it and share links to it;
- quote short excerpts for commentary, teaching or news, with credit and a link back to the page;
- print a page for your own use.
Please do not copy whole pages, republish our content elsewhere, or scrape the site in bulk without asking first. Pictures on this site have their own licences. Each one is credited on the Photo credits page, and you must follow those licences if you reuse a picture.
Information, not official findings
Flights Gone Wrong is a library of videos and written context. It is not an investigating body and it does not issue findings. The official record of each accident is the final report of the investigation, written by bodies such as the NTSB (United States), the BEA (France), the AAIB (United Kingdom), the TSB (Canada) and the ATSB (Australia). Where we state a fact, we try to follow the official report, and we link to it. If anything here differs from the official report, the report is right.
These accidents killed real people. We write about them factually and with respect, and we do not speculate beyond what investigators found.
Nothing on this site is professional advice. Do not use it to make decisions about aircraft operation, maintenance, safety or regulation, or about legal claims. Use the official reports and qualified professionals for that.
Accuracy and corrections
We work to be accurate, and we explain how in How we check facts. Some text starts as a software-generated draft from a video’s transcript. We can be wrong, and information changes. We do not promise that anything here is complete, current or error-free.
If you find a mistake, tell us on the Contact page. Say which page and what is wrong, and a source if you have one. We correct confirmed errors and note significant changes.
Links to other sites
This site links to YouTube, official reports, agencies, photo sources and other sites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
Limits on our responsibility
This site is free and provided “as is”, with no promises that it will always be available, accurate or suitable for what you want to do.
To the extent the law allows, WebFoundry is not liable for any loss, injury or damage that comes from using this site or relying on it, including loss caused by a video, a link or a mistake. If the law does not allow a limit that is written here, that limit does not apply to you, and the rest still does. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer or privacy law that cannot be waived.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the current version. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, and the courts there. If you are a consumer elsewhere, any mandatory rights you have where you live still apply.
